Capturing the Essence of the Unnoticed

Shah Azman, a self-taught photographer and creative enthusiast, has dedicated his life to expressing his ideas and emotions through the lens of a camera. With an impressive body of work that spans various genres, he has emerged as a skilled photographer who seeks to uncover the beauty hidden within the ordinary.

Born in Johor Bahru, Johor, Shah Azman discovered his passion for photography at the tender age of 14. Initially pursuing it as a hobby, he gradually began to delve deeper into the art form, capturing moments for weddings and events in 2010. As he became more involved in the fashion scene in 2014, Shah started focusing on fashion photography and even ventured into album cover shoots for local musicians. Over time, he realized that his true passion lay in personal expression rather than commercial endeavors.

For Shah, photography is more than just a visual medium; it serves as his voice, allowing him to communicate his ideas and emotions effectively. He seeks to capture the "nothingness in everything," shedding light on the often overlooked aspects of our surroundings. His keen eye for detail and ability to find symbolism in everyday objects and moments distinguish his work and make it resonate with viewers on a deeper level.
Shah's photography is characterized by its deliberate compositions and meticulous attention to detail. Through his lens, he captures the essence of his subjects, be it inanimate objects or human moments, and presents them in a way that evokes thought and emotion. His ability to transform the mundane into the extraordinary allows viewers to see the world from a fresh perspective.

What do you look out for in a photo? "The nothingness in everything - things that we often don’t pay attention to. Any objects/subjects or moments than can symbolise anything."
What are you up to these days? Am planning for a new photo series very soon. Will explore on the theme of color & patterns. Looking forward for that!
